Should I Lose Weight?

Writer: AdminAdmin

As a mom, wife, and woman in general, you've undoubtedly thought a time or two about getting a boudoir session done as a surprise for your special someone or just for yourself. Whether it was to help reignite the spark or simply capture this beautiful journey of life through photographs, there's no denying that boudoir can be one of the most liberating experiences ever. But before calling me and booking yourself in for such an empowering experience in The Owlet Room — have you thought about losing weight first? In this blog post we'll take an intimate look at whether losing some pounds is indeed necessary in order to have successful Boudoir photos. Hang on tight because it's going to be an enlightening ride!

As a woman in this society, there is so much societal pressure to look a certain way, wear certain clothes, have a certain figure—it's no surprise that when it comes to a boudoir photography session, many feel intimidated. Sure, you may want to show off your body and do something fun, but the idea of getting intimate photos taken can be overwhelming if you don't feel confident about what you're working with. You may find yourself wondering: Should I lose weight before doing a boudoir session? The answer can be complicated—but today we'll discuss how making changes for the sake of self-love instead of self-hatred can be beneficial for everyone involved!

I'm here to tell you that the only weight you need to worry about is weighing your options when it comes to this important decision. As someone who has been there and done that, let me be frank with you – don't let society dictate whether or not your body needs "work" before taking part in a boudoir photography session; instead trust what's in your gut feeling, and most importantly know that whatever conclusion you arrive at (whether its Slim Down Sally, or Happy Not-So-Skinny Sybil) will be totally valid for YOU! In the below photo you will see me with a 45-pound different between the two pictures. I felt sexy and a B.A.B (Bad, Ass, Bitch) in both photos. The important thing is trusting in your photographer and having good communication about what you do and don't like before getting in front of the camera.

At the end of the day, we all want to look and feel our best. Whether it's putting on our best outfit or getting into your favorite pj's (like me), it is important to always stay true to who you are. No matter what your size or shape may be, remember that boudoir sessions are an incredible experience for everyone. They allow people to see themselves in a new light, often feeling and seeing more beauty in themselves than ever before. Look at what some of my Owlets have said after their session with me:

Amanda Wrote "I was SO NERVOUS my first time. I HATE my stretched-out stomach…. But….I LOVE my pictures because Ms. D in her wonderful way was able to bring out the sexy in ALL of me. And I can’t wait to do it again!!"

Amber Wrote "Size doesn’t matter these are my favorite picture and I’ve never felt so hot in my life."

Barbara Wrote "I was terrified. TERRIFIED. but I did it. And I was so glad I did. I felt empowered. I felt beautiful, I felt strong and sexy and like I was taking myself back. I definitely recommend this to anyone. no matter your size. Trust me. You won't regret it."

Amy Wrote "I admit, I wasn’t nervous… I was excited! But that’s coz I already did a couple boudoir sessions. I lost a lot of weight the last two years (necessary for mental health/self love) so I celebrated with my first shoot in November. I WAS nervous for that but I literally cried at my reveal. I couldn’t believe that was ME. I spent sooooo many years beating myself up that I couldn’t believe I could look beautiful and, yes, sexy!

My advice: if you want to do this for yourself to see how the rest of the world sees you, not all the flaws you see when you look in the mirror: DO IT!! If you have a special someone to share them with, that’s an added bonus."

Cindy Wrote "I was much larger last time, but I was made to feel like a celebrity, a princess, a model! Diandra is beyond amazing, this is a calling for her, it takes someone special to bring out the magic she brings out of everyone she points a camera at! This time I can't wait to do it again!!!"

Do you see a pattern yet?

So, ladies, whether you decide to lose weight before a session or not, don’t let anything stop you from embarking on this empowering journey. Every woman out there should come together and take control of their destinies—choose beautiful moments and make bold choices that can redefine who you are. Just like Melissa McCarthy did when she posed after losing forty-two pounds or like I did after gaining forty-five pounds: show yourself some love!

In conclusion, losing weight before you do a boudoir session should be a personal choice. You are beautiful in any size and body shape! All women should love their bodies and learn to embrace every single curve and imperfection that make them unique! After all, we all have to realize that nobody is perfect. Ask yourself this: would you rather have an ultra-fantastic memory of capturing your raw beauty on the cusp of a major change in your life or would you rather contemplate sticking to an overly restrictive diet for months to fit into some mythical idea of perfection? Once you’re confident about what you want the answer will come easy.
